The recent US Open tennis event, which saw the likes of talented players like Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Nick Kyrgios, and Karen Khaachanov, had a packed audience and among the crowd was rising YouTube creator JiDion who utilized the opportunity to make content. At a Minnesota Timberwolves game back in March, JiDion successfully received a haircut from a stylist that accompanied him as the basketball players ran back and forth on the court. In trying to replicate this experience during the US Open, JiDion was escorted out with his barber by security and the US Tennis Association has issued a statement about the incident.

According to the USTA, JiDion and his friend were escorted “out of their seats and then off the grounds for disruption of play,” during the competition between Nick Kyrgios and Karen Khaachanov. Because JiDion was seated in the second row at the time that the haircut began, many members of the audience, cameras, and possibly even people on the court based on what the USTA has said saw the comedic moment unfold. The tournament organizers took great exception to his stunt at the US Open, but also took it in stride like Pokimane did when they collaborated by stating, “there’s a first time for anything.”

Although JiDion has been banned from Wimbledon for life after pounding his chest and blowing an air horn from the audience during a match between Novak Djokavic and Jannik Sinner, it’s currently unclear if the US Open or USTA have also banned the popular YouTuber. Twitch has confirmed that it won’t be lifting the platform ban of JiDion anytime soon, and the YouTube content creator has also been kicked out of TwitchCon for causing a stir. Given that JiDion is continuing big public moments like haircuts during the aforementioned sporting and livestreaming events, the controversial YouTuber may continue to rise in subscribers and viewership.

While some members of JiDion’s audience and others entertained by his US Open haircut have voiced their enthusiasm for the clip of that was captured just before security arrived, others have criticized his move as disrespectful. Like with other things he’s done in the past such as JiDion’s Twitch hate raids or what he did with the NBA game, some Twitter users just saw the stunt as funny despite any potential harm.
