Recently, there have been multiple characters from Netflix’s canceled Marvel shows who have officially jumped over to the MCU. During his appearance at the recent Fan Expo in Boston, Tennant noted that there may some challenges in brining Purple Man over the MCU, but perhaps it’s not impossible.

Daredevil is getting a new series on Disney Plus, and there have been rumblings of the other small screen heroes making a return. Thanks to a fan question during a panel, fans now have an idea whether Kilgrave has any chance of returning. When a fan asked Tennant whether Kilgrave from Jessica Jones could make a return thanks to the MCU multiverse, the actor said he thinks it would be difficult considering how specific a character Kilgrave is. Howrver, he also noted that he’d be excited to see the “talented” writers at Marvel “try.”

Jessica Jones followed the titular hero as she was haunted by Kilgrave, who is also known as the Purple Man in the comics. The dynamic between the two characters was one that fans really enjoyed and is also one that played off of the theme of hunter and prey. Kilgrave’s predator antics against Jones were resolved once fans saw how Jessica was able to turn the tables on her assailant.

Tennant being interested in returning is never the end all be all, but it certainly helps. It’s nice to see actors only want to return as long as it serves the character well. The issues that can easily arise from these heroes or villains returning is that they end up over staying their welcome, which should be avoided at all costs if Marvel Studios has any hope of making things right for their long term goal of solidifying their cinematic legacy.

With the introduction of the multiverse, Marvel Studios now has the ability to bring back any character they want or recast a character if they should choose to. Kilgrave can come back one day in the future from another universe, or they may just reboot the entire character for the movies. Right now, it’s unclear how much of the Marvel Netflix shows will retain their stories when they get implemented into the bigger picture of the MCU world.

Jessica Jones is now available on Disney Plus.
