For the last few weeks, casting announcements for Knives Out 2 have been taking the internet by storm. Considering the amazing cast of the first film, Johnson’s sequel to his modern-day Agatha Christie-style murder mystery has a lot to live up to. So far Daniel Craig is the only confirmed returning cast member, which makes sense since the sequel will likely follow a new mystery for Craig’s southern drawl detective Benoit Blanc to solve. Other recently announced cast members include Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, and WandaVision’s Kathryn Hahn.

A talented martial artist and rising Hollywood star, Henwick has appeared in several franchise films and television series in the last few years. In 2015, Henwick joined the season 5 cast of Game of Thrones, where she played Nymeria Sand, a fierce warrior princess and one of the bastard daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal). For the role, Henwick was required to do six months of training with a traditional bullwhip. She continued to play the character until she was killed off in the second episode of season 7. Henwick was later cast as the X-wing pilot Jessika Pava in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
While the role was limited, her character quickly became a fan favorite because she was one of the few female X-wing pilots to appear on screen in the franchise. In 2017, Henwick was cast as Colleen Wing in the Netflix Marvel series Iron Fist. Despite the show’s generally unfavorable reviews, Henwicks’s performance was well-received by audiences and critics alike. She reprised her role in the crossover series The Defenders as well as the second season of Luke Cage. By 2019, all of Netflix’s Marvel series, including Iron Fist, had been canceled, and at the moment it’s unclear whether Henwick could ever reprise the role in an upcoming Marvel/Disney production.
More recently, Henwick has starred in several films in supporting roles, such as Sofia Coppola’s On the Rocks and the Kirsten Stewart deep sea horror film Underwater. Henwick has also been cast in the upcoming Untitled Fourth Matrix film, but currently, there are no details regarding her role.
Considering her previous work, and the fact that she’s joined the cast of the Matrix 4, Henwick has developed a reputation for taking on combat-heavy roles. She’s clearly a skilled martial artist, but whether or not this will play into Johnson’s sequel remains a mystery for now.
Knives Out 2 is scheduled to begin production this summer.
